Welcome to The Hourglass!
There are eight hourglasses containing one story each.
Navigate with your mouse to discover which ones are the special ones!
This is a project developed by Zijie Qu, Daniel Vera Villalobos, Santra Navas, Tingyu Li and Yilin Lu,
for the MA Digital Direction at the Royal College of Art in London.
The Hourglass is a collection of personal stories shared by individuals who have experienced time in either a detention center, correction facility or prison. This is the outcome of an experience designed within a workshop, in which they all took part individually. In the activity, a voice guides you through a sea of hourglasses, each of them different and representing one meaningful experience in your life. When you decide to pick one, you are confronted with the hourglass, its unique materiality and meaning. What is its color? How does the sand move within the glass? What makes it so special?
Their authenticity reminds us that everyone has a story to tell when you listen to their voice.
